Chemical Skin Peels - FAQs

Which chemical peel is right for me?

Chemical peels vary in strength and depth (superficial, medium or deep) depending on the desired outcome. We begin with a consultation to discuss your skin concerns and goals, which helps us determine the most suitable chemical peel for you.

The number of skin peels required varies depending on your skin concerns, treatment goals, and the strength of the chemical peel selected.

Superficial and Medium depth peels:

  • 3 peels spaced 2–3 weeks apart, followed by maintenance peels every 12 weeks to maintain results.

Deep depth peels:

  • 1-2 deep peel per year is sufficient to achieve significant results and pronounced skin renewal.

When performed by a qualified professional, chemical peels are safe and effective. A consultation is required to ensure the peel selected is suitable for your skin type and concerns.

Results can often be seen after the first treatment, with continued improvement over a series of sessions as the skin renews.

Chemical peels may not be suitable for individuals with active infections, certain skin conditions, or during pregnancy. Suitability will be assessed during your consultation.

Superficial Peels

  • Depth: Light exfoliation of the outer layer of skin
  • Downtime: Minimal; some redness or slight flaking for 1–3 days
  • Recovery: Normal activities can usually be resumed immediately; skin may feel tight or dry for a few days.

Medium Peels

  • Depth: Penetrates the outer and upper mid-layers of skin
  • Downtime: Redness, swelling, and peeling for 3-5 days
  • Recovery: Skin may be sensitive; avoid prolonged sun exposure.

Deep Peels

  • Depth: Penetrates deeper layers for more pronounced results
  • Downtime: Significant redness, swelling, and peeling for 7–10 days
  • Recovery: Careful aftercare is essential; skin is highly sensitive, and full healing can take a couple of weeks.
