Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore volume, smoothen deep wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. They usually contain hyaluronic acid, and/or collagen-stimulating ingredients to provide long-lasting structural support and definition to areas of the face that have lost fullness over time.

Dermal Fillers - FAQs

What is the difference between botulinum toxin and dermal fillers?

Botox® works by softening lines and wrinkles in areas like the forehead, frown lines and around the eyes, with effects lasting 3-6 months.

Dermal fillers work by providing deep structural support beneath the skin to replace volume loss, restore facial fullness, and enhance contours, with effects lasting 9–18 months.

Dermal filler treatments are specialised procedures and are generally safe when performed by highly experienced, qualified practitioners. However, as with any medical procedure, there are potential risks, which will be thoroughly discussed during your consultation. If needed, hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be easily dissolved, offering an added layer of safety.

Dermal filler treatments are generally well tolerated and not considered painful. An anaesthetic numbing cream is usually applied before treatment to minimise discomfort, and most dermal fillers nowadays also contain lidocaine to keep the area comfortable during the procedure.

Dermal fillers typically last between 6 and 24 months, depending on the type of filler, the area treated, and individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle.

Results gradually fade over time, and there is no fixed maintenance schedule. Your practitioner will advise the best timing for retreatment based on your needs.
